Pretty normal to get ghosted nowadays unfortunately. However, if you haven't already followed up after the last interview I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for an update.
There are a lot of stories about people being ghosted lately. That has somehow become acceptable in business, though it used to be considered an act of unspeakable rudeness. It's just part of how things have declined over the last decade or so. You should try to get an answer from them, and also, of course, keep looking elsewhere.
Even if they don’t respond, you’ll have done your part to communicate professionally. It can help you mentally close the loop so you can move forward.
You may have nailed the final round but someone else may have as well. You might be their second choice which would mean that they are waiting for someone else’s answer before going to you. This is normal. It would also be okay to check in professionally and express continued interest. You are probably still in the running. Best of luck!
I was ghosted by a recruiter and after 2 weeks I sent an email asking if that recruiting company was still open or if it had been shut down and asked if she was alive haha. Diff words, but she def responded to that and said everything was fine they just put a pause on the role. I'm not working with them again.
