Join Toastmasters or watch TedTalks or speeches from public figures whom you admire. Pay attention to things like their use of pauses, the speed of their words, and how they use eye contact.
I once had all of the same concerns that you do. You’ve got this.

Volunteer at a high school or first year in college type events. Many orgs are lookin gf or speakers or events to put on. Also join toastmasters or some journal club where you present to others something you’re passionate about.

💯 recommend joining toastmasters! Public speaking is a skill that requires practice and repetition, and the club members will give you constructive feedback on how to make incremental improvements.

This is more about your mindset than ability. You said that you are shy, nervous, and not good enough. That is your inner self talk. Shift it. You need to be your #1 support and it starts with how you talk to yourself. Talk to yourself the way you would talk to and support your best friend or someone you consider a role model. The rest will follow as you continue to get more experience with it. You are earning these opportunities to speak because someone believes in you. It's time for YOU to start believing in you! You've got this!!

I had this when I was younger and got a retail job to get me out of my shell, so uncomfortable but now I can talk and navigate nearly any conversation. May not work for all but seek out the experience, it can be the best teacher. If you are able to, put into practice something like that and you’ll get paid 😂

One “trick” that actually works…
Before speaking remind yourself that while you are trying to impress everyone with how smart and important you are there are infants in third world countries literally dying as you speak because they do not have access to clean water or basic medical attention. You are not that important, the people in the room aren’t that important, remind yourself of the big picture.
