Attrition+economic slowdown and tech layoffs, mixed bag it seems. What are your opinions on this ? Will there be good hike next season or any talent retention steps to be taken here? Deloitte Deloitte USI

It’s natural to be anxious, sad, and very disappointed. You can’t change the scene, but you can change the lens. Use a wide angle instead of a tele. How about thinking about the numerous homeless that don’t even have place to call home? How about seeing what about your current place you can at least tolerate? How about thinking about the advantage a less expensive place will give you in the short term? Hang in there OP!
I totally understand what you mean OP about being extraordinarily sensitive to your surroundings. I feel the same way. If you truly can’t take the new place, is there anything you can do to make the current place feel better? Is it a neighborhood environment thing, an ugly apartment thing, or an unpleasant living situation?
Midwest. And, no, nowhere else to go. I have a kid too, and I’m too old for roommates (I.e. won’t deal with others’ crap). I’ve been here for 8 years, so it’s not like I haven’t been dealing with it. It’s just that the thought of finally moving and finding a beautiful place that my kid and I loved brought me so much joy. Then I think about my team mates and how they all have really nice homes, partners, and make more than I do, and my inner world came crashing down.
In the same situation. Do you guys think landlords will start lowering rent for new tenants, not only because of the economy, but also because nobody wants to tour apartments or move in this environment?
This landlord and the leasing agency were acting like the pandemic isn’t even happening. I asked for reduction, and they were not into it. Guess it doesn’t matter now.
I also put a deposit down to buy a condo last week. I have a week to make the final decision, and at this point I’m not sure whether to back out and just rent instead...
Back the f*ck out my friend! You are lucky
Seriously man, consider it a blessing. You can ride out a few months where you are, save some money and change things up once you have a better feel for where the economy is going.
I know it sucks, but consider yourself lucky here.
I’m sorry. What don’t you like about your current place?
It’s falling apart. It has some mold, and air quality is awful due to old HVAC. Bothers my asthma. Neighbors are awful and so is the laundry situation. Leaking kitchen sink. Peeling walls. Too small for my growing kid. Horrible vintage bathroom sink with dual faucets where you burn your hands or ice them, no in between. Been here a long time.
Omg i’m in the exact same situation like you OP. I have even spent around 150$ on the application fee etc. and not able to decide if I should move or not.
It is my dream apt.
Yeah, and I feel these rental agencies don’t care about the pandemic. They only care about commissions. I wish they could be more human and give you all of it back.
I am in the same situation. Found a couple of good places in NYC, not signing until certain about my project.
I’m super sensitive to my environment and feel terrible where I am now. The new place felt like a dream, and now I feel I’m waking from it. I know there will be other ones, but this one was perfect. I wish I made more money so that I had a big cushion but don’t. Just very sad and needed to vent.
Your better off with less monthly expenses in uncertain times. Save some cash for security. There will be other places.
