What is the deal with all the layoffs? I’m hearing there have been layoffs all across the board. I’m also hearing massive rehiring. Is any of that true?

I have offer from BNY Mellon for K grade and credit Suisse for AVP position for business analyst profile . Which one should I Join. Two factors for consideration : Credit Suisse is currently in a big mess due to negative 2Q results. BNY has one instance of layoffs in 2019. Though connected with many BNY employees and they told me it was one time instance due to wrong decision by CEO and that CEO is no longer with BNY. Please suggest

So, this is a very personal kind of question, but I hope people relate and can provide an answer. I am CLOSE friends with a peer on my team and they an awful engineer and I'm always showing them up, simply by doing the right work. It's getting to a point where I'm getting bogged down by them, and I don't know if our manager will notice or if I need to do something to bring it up. What's the ideal solution for this? Maybe a stealth approach I haven't thought of? I don't want them to be fired...

Advice from recruiters needed on explaining second unemployment period due to 2 layoffs in 4 years. The first time I set up a small biz which did minimal business. Covered first 7 month layoff period without fully disclosing my inactivity. Are recruiters starting to catch on to “Name, LLC” as a euphemism for “unemployed”?

I was very successful as an internaional sales exec at a startup for 15 years before we were bought by a large publicly traded company. The culture shift was dramatic, as was the way that I was expected to work. I was laid off a tortuous 3 years after the buyout.

While I was in some ways relieved (put me out of my misery!) I spiralled pretty hard and after a while started working PT jobs, gig type stuff, etc. while I figured things out, and healed from burnout.

I quit my previous job approximately 5-6 months ago due to toxic culture and being pressured to commit fraud… I fear hiring managers see that I’ve been out of work for this time and may assume I was fired or laid off. Additionally I’ve had a couple interviews where company “X” interviewers have commented on this and in an effort to not bad mouth my previous employer I’m stuck with a generic answer like I want to take my career to the next level with Company “X.” Any thoughts/advice?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞
