If an artifact supports the story of demonstrating process and the application of insights to improve the design, then it makes sense to include. "I began with these core wireframes, reviewed with internal stakeholders and end users. These first round designs were the result. Let me highlight the changes here, here and here in response to feedback. Then the round 1 prototypes were tested with end users, and the business provided some updated KPIs. In these final designs, enhancements were made here, here and here based on the user testing and new KPIs"
The amount of artifacts don't need to be equally weighted - you can have more final designs then earlier stage artifacts. But your value as a designer is evaluated based on how you refine and improve things, in response to various forms of input/data/insights, etc.
I always include the creative process so they're also privy to how my unique perspective on design looks like. Esp since you're getting asked, maybe it's wroth adding to your portfolio.
