I highly recommend consulting with an employment attorney. From my experience they are always able to get you some extra that at least covers their fee and usually more than the initial offer.
Good to know!
It’s always worth having it looked at. I made that mistake and likely left a years worth of salary on the table.
I mean, I figure it couldn’t hurt...🤷🏻♀️
You can try to negotiate but those things are usually set by HR (ex. 2 weeks-1month/year of employment and your bonus, etc.). If you think you’ve been valuable to the company, nothing wrong with asking if possible for more.
Rule of thumb is generally 3-4 weeks per year of employment. Did you receive any notice period?
Was just told today and I have 45 days to hang out, but I’m still employed.
The employee handbook has the severance, if you make more than $150k you usually get 16 weeks.
There's not much negotiatiating on a severance package unless you have grounds for a wrongful termination.
In their minds, you can take it or not. If your Q is whether to take a lump sum or payments, you don't need an attorney for that. That's a financial calculator and your sense on the value of money.
That’s great! I reached out to some folks, so we’ll see.
