I am very new to the States and am actually from India.
I have always been a girl who had many friends and was never alone.
I don't have any friends here unfortunately and wanted to ask if there are any Facebook groups or other forums especially for Indians who want to interact with each other.

In general, you can also give me tips on how to make friends.

I applied for a Manager role. It is available for the 3rd time in almost 2 years. My 2nd interview with GM, AGM, and HRD started with them unanimously agreeing on my ability to do the job at a high level. They didn’t hire me because I wasn’t “an HR Cheerleader” and said I was more suitable for a “real HR Manage role”…. They then opened another specialist job and encouraged me to apply. Any insight on what to make of this?

Hi - I am pretty sure I will receive an offer for a university HR role paying at least 150K. The recruiter says "everyone here pretty much " works from home. I need a remote position for a number of reasons.. I'm concerned because the job posting says its a hybrid role. I am not that interested in the position itself but the money is great, it is a dir. position and it would advance my career. I'm willing to come in for meetings but hybrid is out of the question. Question on generalist vs specialist path to becoming a CXO at a tech company!! I am in mid-40s, work for FAANG at senior level in sales role with a TC of $500K. Not a VP or CXO yet, and that's where I want to go as the next step in my career. Over the past 25 years, did sales (10-12yrs), delivery(5-8yrs), Strategy & ops (1yrs), and Product mgmt. (1-2yrs). I still believe need to sharpen my skills, so focusing on transferring to S&O or Prod mgmt. role in my current company. Makes sense?

Short Rant: Got a referral for an AWS role, when I got the HR email to complete my candidacy 2 days later I was rejected without any type of phone screening or anything.

Especially when I met more than 90% of the requirements (entry level position) & I work in the field they are looking for. I am so perplexed & feel stupid.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I thought it was very hard for a referral to NOT at least get a screening call. What did (or didn't) I do right.
