Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet! They made you an offer, and then went ghost after you tried negotiating? Major red flag. Counteroffers are totally normal in the process, and they should have at least emailed you back with a "no" if they weren’t open to it. A company that can’t even handle a negotiation politely isn’t the one you want to work for.
Companies can get away with this in the current job market, because there will always be another great candidate willing to take a disgustingly low salary. So, I think it's a bit of both. They would no doubt be a terrible company to work for, but if you need a paycheck, you might want to take whatever offer you get and then spend your free time looking for a higher paying job.
Yes, but if you want quality work, with amazing customer service and 20+ years of management experience you will be crazy to hire someone just cuz they'll work for less. A proven track record of success can take business to the next level.
When you counter offer. Make sure to list what you bring to the table. What experience or background you have and any achievements from previous experience. Make them not want to lose you!
Honestly its a really tough job market out there so its hard to say. I always think you should be willing to walk away from any less than you deserve, however, I know there are situations where people take lower offers because they need a job asap.
CVS doesn't accept counteroffers from Cogs. Only C-Suite and VPs can negotiate salary.
I think you dodged a bullet. Hopefully you can find a place that will pay you what you deserve. Good luck!
Now if it was an absurd counteroffer that might have something to do with it. If it was within reason and they blatantly ignored you then they were just shopping around for the lowest bidder. Went through that a couple months back an “exciting, new opportunity” with a pay that didn’t cut it and no room to offer any more.

You dodged a bullet. Don’t worry about it
Just reject it. Its not for you.
It depends on whether the company posted a salary range (or expressed that the salary is fixed) as well as how much you requested. At this point, you can't retract your request for higher compensation, but I wouldn't give up yet. You could send your contact a message and include a job-matching matrix in order to explain why you were asking for a higher rate. In the job-matching matrix, list the qualifications for the job in one column, the issues that would come up if you didn't have these qualifications in the second column, and your relevant experience for each requirement in the third column. In the meantime, keep job searching, but be open to the possibility that the company may respond in time. I hope that helps!
$100,000 salary range or something like that is ridiculous but I am sure they asked you..or maybe required you to tip your hand at what you wanted. Did that happen? If you take the job and it still bothers you, you will have to deal with it. Maybe that $12,000 is including vacation time or other benefits or maybe they were just being sneaky. But you need to feel good about the job you're starting because if not, you're not going to feel good while you're working.
