The US government passed legislation affirming gay marriage. There’s nothing to fear here.
Please don’t believe the above false propaganda. Congress passed no such law! I hope people stop spreading these lies. The closest Congress came to protecting gays is RFMA. It does NOT legalize gay marriage. It affords certain federal protections (and repealed DOMA) and requires states to recognize same sex marriages performed in other states. If Obergefell falls, Congress will repeal the gay protections of RFMA in a heartbeat. There were only 12 senate and 47 house Republicans that supported it. Today’s composition wouldn’t get even a third of that number and Democrats are minorities in both.
That your state will recognize your marriage but you won't get any federal benefits, won't be able to file taxes jointly, implications for inheretance from spouse etc. I'm more worried about domestic partner benefits as we never planned to marry.
I would get married now
This reads like a “plant” doing the work for anti-gay marriage.
