Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

One approach is to follow up on a performance review discussion. If you receive good marks, politely request the conversation shift to aligning your compensation to mirror the review you receive.
Another approach might be to ask for a review of your compensation relative to your time with the company, if your wages have not increased steadily, it might be time for a bump.
Lastly, and this is a big one, nobody is going to be more interested in your career than you. Sure, starting over at a new employer is not fun, but changing employers periodically is an effective approach to growing your career and salary. Never take that option off the table; never leverage it as a bludgeon to coerce an employer either. You never know when you might want/need to return if things do not work out. Always try to emphasize that you are hungry to learn and grow and that it is a major reason for leaving. They will naturally leap toward a wage increase as that tends to be a fast and easy lever to pull whereas new opportunities within the employer may take time to develop.
Hope it helps. Go gett’em, Tiger.
Thank you very much for the advise; I appreciate it very much.
Are you working as operation manager in the office? If so I do suggest you to go look in the market now for the salary and ask your manager to raise your salary competitive with market if they value you. Or just go find a new job in the market and at least have a big 20% raise
