I worked for a Native American tribe in California and would advise against working with any of the tribes, even if you are a tribal member. Lots of politics, no job security, no communication, no appreciation, low pay. They are sovereign, so they are excluded from a lot of laws. My experience put me on short-term disability and while on disability, was terminated. There are no ADA guidelines for them. It's disturbing to me that this goes on in this day and age.

I started a job with a restaurant as part time they hired me at a higher wage but after working for one week the other manager came to me telling me that they can’t afford what the other manager and I agreed on so now i have to work at less or I could look for another work options, she meant I should leave otherwise. Have you ever dealt with a colleague that believes in extremely (in my opinion) outdated or even just false claims and treats them as scientific facts? I work with several older men but one of them practices "provocative therapy" as in you just play the devil's advocate with your patient and side with the negative half of their thinking. In theory I could see this working situationally, but as a whole philosophy regardless of the patient's issue I think it's ridiculous.

Does anyone feel that the Oil and Gas industry is the most discriminatory industry of all? They won’t even look at resume without O&G experience! It does not make sense to me as I would rather teach someone the specifics of an industry if they were a good fit. And for an industry that has so many obstacles from Government, Environmental Organizations and so on, why they are adding more bad publicity to themselves is not a great approach.
