I’m trying to make the jump from legal services to corporate IP. I’ve only been in practice for 2 years and I have 0 experience in corporate. Do I have a chance?

If you went to a great school or have great contacts that would make it a lot easier. Not unheard of for folks from top schools shifting from public interest into big law but rare.

There are plenty of reasons why this may be impossible, but yolo!!! Go after your dreams.

What is corporate IP? Like, technology transactions?

Lolol hold up. You don’t need science or engineering background for trademark work. That’s for patents.

OP, it sounds like you’re looking for a trademark prosecution or trademark counseling position. If you want to do straight TM litigation, that’s much trickier and difficult to find (it’s what I do).

Your ability to transition depends on what kind of firm you want to be at. Many biglaw shops have a smattering of TM work, but very few have robust TM practices. I’d guess they would have to be sort of desperate for a pair of hands to take a lateral with no relevant experience. However, there are lots of midsize and boutique shops out there that might be willing.

In all honesty, I’ve written recommendations that male counterparts voiced in the past that had ZERO pushbacks.

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. I love my new team and people here! Super healthy working environment! But just curious about the title.

I understand I don’t have enough direct experience and platform experience, like Nielsen.
