Bain & Company Help a brother out and like this post so I can dm! Also, would be really grateful if anyone is willing to give me a referral to their firm. Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

If you really want to quit because of mental health, I would recommend taking leave first and then resigning while on leave if you don’t feel like going back.
I don’t know why you’d want to burn a bridge like that. Stick it out for 2 more weeks.
OP: don't worry about burning bridges. Nothing is more important that your mental health.
You can always get back to industry where it's not a mad race and there'll be more meaningful work too.
They can't come after you unless you have a signing bonus with a claw back. You could, however, make yourself ineligible for a rehire. Check company policy on that.
Agree with SM1. You will absolutely burn a bridge, and our industry is pretty small and well connected. You could find it hard to get back into consulting after your year off.
Actually talk to somebody on project if you trust them or call HR (if you truly don’t want to quit). I was in the position ready to lose my shit and really needed a break. Project leadership did give me 2 weeks no questions and said I needed to take all the time needed. Really felt the firm was EXTREMELY supportive and people maintained my confidence and didn’t share with everyone that I took a mental break. The firm will support you if you ask and let somebody know you are at breaking point. I didn’t need a doctors note or anything. Mental health is important. If you need a break take a break
OP take some time off. I took 2 weeks off after telling my partner I was an email away from a breakdown. A month after I got back I was able to take a sabbatical for 3 months (which I extended another a month cuz I thought it would help).
Came back, stayed a year with the group and then moved to another group which matched my interests. Work similar hours but have a completely different outlook.
Try something similar if you trust your leadership, if you don’t. You probably should’ve left awhile back, turn in 2 weeks. Save contacts, brush up resume and start networking with alum and folks here
If you can get a therapist to sign off you can take short term disability while you figure out the next move rather than burning a bridge
Just give the 2 weeks and leave. It sounds like you don’t want to cause extra work for the team, but your mental health is more important. Put yourself first and do what is best for you. The team can always bring another person to help out
Gotta agree with D1 and SM1. Give the two weeks notice and enjoy your year off
D3- not a millennial but thanks anyway. Served a solid military caterer and have put in hours you’d never imagine. I won’t give you details but my mind needs a break.
Take advantage of the generous STD policy, up to three months. Talk to a therapist to get the ball rolling you'll be able to take time off in a few days while getting paid. From one vet to another, It's all meaningless without your mental health.
Call 800 Deloitte and connect with the Leaves team. They will walk you through everything and answer any questions you've got.
So give two weeks? That’ll still have me out
Mid engagement.
OP: Leaving mid-engagement is going to create more work for the team. But it happens. You have to do what’s right for you. Hopefully they can find someone to replace you but, this happens.
Outside of my engagement, what should I make sure to tie up before I leave? Transfer all my points off my Amex... save any contacts I need...
D5- what’s the STD program?
D7- my project leadership does not support the new Dflex program. They said I’m, “too in demand” which is code for: they’re not properly planning out their future engagements and resourcing effectively.
OP. Will set up burner to explain. The bench is very thin now and H1Bs are a total shitshow, so they're terrified of having to backfill with USDC or just a warm body.
OP - Drop me a line at Uncledforme@maildrop.cc
I’ll owe 5k of my sign on bonus back but I have so much PTO saved up that they’ll just keep a portion of that.
SM1: they won’t let take more than 2 weeks leave without tons of approvals. And mid project they won’t let me just decide
To take two weeks off.
