If you don’t already know that you shouldn’t be starting a business. Especially if you’re at the director level and are unaware of the the different markers and their requirements. Like supply chain management in what aspect, managed trans, true 3pl partner. If you don’t know a market then you can’t feasibly manage a supply chain within it.
To follow up on PA1’s point in a bit less abrasive manner, I don’t think it should be about “easiest to handle”. If that is your metric for decision then you aren’t approaching it in a way that will lead to success.
What industries are you already familiar with? What subsections of supply-chain management? If your particular knowledge base is in 3PL operations, for example, and you are confident in your abilities there, research industries you care about or at least can see yourself in for 10 years minimum.
If you are looking to start a business, I’d recommend you have a 10 year business plan with specific types of milestone goals for the 1/3/5/10 year marks. 1 being focused on full operational efficiency at small scale, 3 being focused on scaled operation and profitability, 5 being achievable stretch goals, and 10 being either your exit strategy (selling) or super stretch goals (keeping in mind the 10 year target is ever changing).
