How do you feel about people who just aren't sincere about their jobs? As in watching YouTube videos at work etc? Would you pay for them too?
Because the decisions are made at the very very top with vertical/horizontal leadership and HR, not just at the individual partner level. And unfortunately some of that vertical leadership is shit.
Because in the grand scheme of things a partner doesn't have the type of power you think they do.
PWC- I had a boss who did something similar for me in '08 and it was amazing admiral. I appreciate your integrity.
OP it's not your decision to make. You can't ask anyone to pay you unless they decide to do so. Like how Bernie wants others to pay tuition. It's not pretty.
Also these guys have been at the same firm for 30 years. Then they fire 1st year campus hires. Would they be here a millennial lifetime later if someone had fired them their first year? Fail.
Do you think partners make enough money to pay for multiple people's salaries without impacting their finances? I'd understand helping to support a raise, for one or a few people but that's about it
Accelerating through the turn NOT.
I am sure you say that because you are not a partner -
OP I don't think they make that much. I think they get directions from our favorite racecar driver as to what % they need to cut in their horizontal. Then they come up with some utilization metric to make the cuts.
Okay if they actually sucked and several people say that...that is different. But I would never, ever be complicit in letting someone who did a fine job go because I couldn't sell work for them!
PwC 2 lol and the racecar driver costume #neverforget
Interesting. So utilization can save our asses?
Not necessarily D2. But I think if you are on the bench at the time cuts happen you are more likely to get cut.
Wowzers. Do firms usually do layoffs around the same time every year? I just got an email about my utilization. It was over 100% and I have somewhat slacking for the last few weeks. When I say slacking, I mean pacing myself so I don't go out in a bright red flame.
Nowhere close to partner but I can't imagine I would be willing to give up a portion of my salary at any level. Especially if I was working at a firm and not for myself with my own true employees. There just isn't an incentive - someone else will come along and do great work. We are all just a number as long as we are in the rat race and that's just the reality of it.
