He bought it? Or he got upgraded?
TBH I don’t really understand why anyone would think he should switch regardless of how he got the seat. Women can’t argue to be taken care of / want all these chivalrous actions while also wanting to be treated as equals. If you want a first class seat, buy one yourself 🤷♀️
Hey good for you; that’s awesome!

If the tables were turned, I would not be giving up mine.
Me: Damn that’s crazy. Anyway, see you when we land! 🤣
Same rules as clients. You always sit in their class or upgrade them with you.

My husband would give me the first class seat lol

We just had this scenario. My husband’s company flew him first class for a work trip to Asia. On the way back, he insisted I swap and take his seat. He didn’t have to, but it was very nice

No. This is such an entitled take tbh. He’s presumably taller/bigger but you want him to be cramped in the back for chivalry? If you want to sit 1st class, buy a ticket
Just fly first to begin with
My husband would not and nor would I. But context is key here.
I would pay for a first class ticket for my husband if he were to join me on a work trip where I was flying intl first class. He wouldn’t come otherwise. But if I got upgraded on a flight we were both going to go coach on then he’d be like good for you (and ask me to bring him all the alcohol).
He’d give it to someone else to sit next to me 😡
Pro
Did you book your tickets separately? Because if one gets upgraded you both should. Also, did he buy the first class or did he get upgraded? Is he supremely tall and/or large?
I’ve only flown first class a couple times and I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I’m a Delta flyer, so I’m find with Comfort+

Technically you may not both get upgraded.
If there's only one seat in first for an upgrade, they're not going to upgrade both of you.

My husband and I are ride or die. We both upgrade or we both hang out in main. Part of the fun of traveling together is being able to hang out together.
Yes, my boyfriend got upgraded as he got points from his work travel. I was very excited for him and with no doubt, told him to take it to feel more comfortable. Less than half way there, he came back to my seat and asked to switch as he would feel very happy if I also had a relaxing time for the rest of the trip. That’s the moment I knew I would marry this man because we truly were thinking about each other. Small acts like these show love. I’m getting married in 2 weeks. ☺️
Well my guy is 6’5 and broad shoulders so I’d let him take the more spacious seat
My husband would absolutely give me the first class seat, but also would never take the upgrade or purchase without also doing the same for me. I guess it helps that I actually usually book our flights so REALLY I would never take an upgrade or book a separate class ticket than my husband.. like who am I going to nap on if we’re not seated together 😂

Thought of this thread today.
1 seat was available for a first class upgrade on my flight. First 4 people on the upgrade list were 2 sets of couples, both declined the upgrade to stay with their partner and it went to the person 5th on the list... Me.

I’ll just buy for that moment 1 seat, maybe he can feel split the price so you both can have experience together
Thanks for all the responses! I wasn’t mad about it, but just curious how other couples would handle it! He bought it but he did offer to pay to upgrade me, there just weren’t any first class seats available
Wait...he bought it for his money even though he knew you fly together. I find it not too nice... Why not both fly cabin if two seats not available or economy + or smth like that...
And it is not about money, more like a person would choose not spend time together when u r literally "in one big room"..
Of course I don't know him or you but I disagree with some of the comments above. Chivalry and team spirit still have place in this world
