If you hit financial trouble tomorrow, who’s your first call? I’ve realized I can’t lean on my parents at all, they’re retired, and I’d rather not put that on them. Definitely changes how I think about my safety net. I have an emergency fund though but what if it gets depleted? Are you thinking about a go-to—family, friends, partner, or something more structured?

That's a situation I sure hope I never face. I could ask my parents for help, though I'd have to be utterly desperate to get them involved in my trouble. My strategy is to avoid that scenario, and I make every effort to live well within my means. I guard my money pretty carefully, and that should get me through any calamity.

My partner only, I hope I never get into that situation tho, would be messy to rely on parent.

Partner first, parents second. I'm lucky to have a ton of support that I have no intention of needing. Not that I'd have to notify my partner about financial trouble, seeing how we have a joint account.

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

How do you engage your students in more reading outside of what is required in the classroom? With each passing year I am finding an ever shrinking population of students, including honors students, who actually read beyond what is posted in social media or video games. Students willingly volunteer that they do not read and most parents see it as a non-issue. I tell my students that the best readers are usually the best writers. What are some strategies that you use beyond reading logs ?
