This is way too early to think about. Revisit in 3 years and see if is even a viable business. Audit is also not the experience I would really want for this type of business, you don’t learn the actual operations of a business in audit to do this type of work.
You pivot now then, while it’s cheap to move.
Once you’re 5 years in, it’s not easy to pivot and your skill set may not translate to what you want to do.
Curious about the end question as well (the tax piece). But just came here to say, your timeline seems a bit unrealistic. Having a firm of CFOs after basically making manager level seems crazy to me, but maybe there's something I'm not seeing. Most CFOs are like MINIMUM 10 years in I think. Many 15ish or more.
It’s moreso for the CAS services. Like most CAS firms also double as tax firms
I would worry less about getting tax experience right now and focus more on getting experience in day to day operational accounting work, which you won’t get much of while doing audits. See if you can move into the CAS department
Big 4 audit is not going to give you the experience you need to do *any* of this. Try working in similar services at a smaller firm first. Make sure you actually enjoy it. It’s great to dream big but you should know what you’re getting yourself into first…
For context, I started in Big 4 audit and then worked at a smaller firm where I did this type of work and realized it wasn’t for me at all.
