I had an associate who did it.
1. Start making the case for a rotation. Talk to your PML. Ask for help to network at a minimum. If other groups like you, they’ll pull you in.
2. The case is only viable if there’s a need. In this economy, advisory is down.
3. You may have items in your schedule, make sure to make it clear that you’re ready to honor your commitments
I can’t comment on title or salary, as there’s a disconnect between advisory and audit/tax.

Someone at my firm had to spend a year in audit before they could switch into advisory. I’d assume they’ll knock you down a level cause would you know enough to be able to do the senior role properly?
I've voiced my opinion as a tax staff. Managers and coach understood and thought I would benefit from it as I am more interested in business as a whole rather than just taxes. Partner told me it's great that I'm offering my time and voiced my willingness to work double hours if it meant to get some advisory work. But then he also mentioned work is slow and doubtful there would be opportunities this year. Not sure if that's just him beating around the bush, as it is COVID, but I'd be persistent and keep mentioning it whenever you get the chance.

Work double hours lol. Advisory and audit hours combined are more than 24 per day
