You don't. You avoid this person. That, my friend, is how you survive.

A great mentor doesn't expect you be online at all hours.
100%. I work a lot, but I expect my juniors to have boundaries. I do expect them to meet internal deadlines and quality expectations.
I wouldn’t push back. I’d just not listen to that piece of advice. A mentor is there to help and provide guidance. You take what you want out of that
I have a mentor like this and after a particularly chaotic deal I straight up told her that I didn’t like that kind of deal. It honestly helped our relationship because now she only staffs me on things I’m actually interested in (and not more of the shitty deal) and we have more open conversations about what work I want to see, advancing my career, etc.

People like that just make me sad - seems like a good person who thinks that dedicating her life to this job is worth it. For what? If your goal isn’t to to be the most well regarded mid-level associate at the firm and work until the early morning hours every day, you should look for mentors who have achieved some more balance.

3k is crazy anywhere.
lol that is absurd and she’s “mentoring” you as a form of manipulation so you bend to those absurd expectations. Run away
In fairness, I work like that but I have kids so I’m offline from 5-8:30. Most people aren’t working 9am straight through to 12. And often times I send stuff late because that’s when I’m working but it doesn’t mean it has to be turned that night. A good mentor would make that clear, but just flagging a different perspective.
