I’m a recent law graduate with an interest in IP law and looking for data and tech compliance roles as my way into IP law as I need visa sponsorship and IP law roles are very competitive and my main priority right now is to find a job that will sponsor my visa but not take me away from the IP law route. Does anyone have any advice around this? Anything would be greatly appreciated🙏

I understand what you're saying, but it sounds like you'll need to sacrifice what you want for what you need right now. If you can get a visa sponsorship in a position that isn't aligned with your interests, I would take it while networking and finding the role that will fulfill you. But until then, take what you can get to get what you need: sponsorship.

Agreed. Might be very hard to get both IP and sponsorship right out of the gate (certainly apply and try tho!). If you can get a sponsored job take it and then use your “5-9” crafting your life, networking, and skills to get the killer IP joke as your next job

Holy run-on sentence, Batman!

Maybe talk to some recruiters. And also applying IP roles yourself. Not sure if there are that many roles out there can offer sponsorship though

smart

I would talk to your school's career services department and network like crazy.

You haven't included your location or even what law school you'reattending, so it's really difficult to help connect you to positions that fulfill your requirements.

Roles that require sponsorship seem to be hard to find right now. I would really be focused on networking and trying to get a referral. That may help you get your foot in the door somewhere.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
