I’m a sixth year patent associate at a mid-size national law firm (about 150 attorneys) working in a MCOL urban area. I had my annual review and was told I am doing excellent, everything is on track, but that I am only receiving a $5000 raise (2.7%) for a salary of $190,000 due to budgetary constraints. I met my hours last year, but my firm does not do bonuses at all. They are supposed to be baked into our raises. Feeling very disheartened.

What do you all do to make non-professional / personal connections? Particularly with the Coronavirus, and being in domestic relations, I wake up, go to work, work out, go home. So outside of law, my interactions with people are only at the gym given that my area is draining— particularly at the moment. Probably a good thing for now; but if we take coronavirus out of the equation, I’m interested what others in the community do to develop personal connections.

Is there a way of bypassing the H1B lottery? I was told by an external recruiter that if I joined their London team, after a year I could go through H1B process without the lottery. My preference is to remain with Deloitte and transfer - can Deloitte put me through without the lottery? Are there stipulations such as minimum tenure or degree types etc?
