What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

Get out now if you can, or stay until you get something else if you can't. Better to leave sooner or later for your sanity and go somewhere you are valued. No toxic workplace deserves conscientious talent. Peace and clarity will follow.
I've been an Associate Accounting Analyst for 14 years at HQ. If I had to do it all over again, I would leave this toxic work environment. I'm a few years from 20 years and was eligible to retire 2 years ago. I gave my career to an agency that wouldn't p!ss on me if I were on fire. They have used me and hired outside candidates every time they pass me over. One for someone with less than half the experience I have and no BS. You won't go anywhere unless you're liked. If you have a strong personality, leave because they'll call you emotional while calling the men passionate. Leave before you are trapped like me.
It’s such a tough spot, feeling like you’re not quite at the “right” time to leave, but also not sure how long you can or should wait it out. I'm in a similar place, trying to balance my needs with family responsibilities. No easy answers, just taking it day by day and weighing the tradeoff

An accountant too and same thoughts
No easy answer, but I like the ability to “choose”.
I had the same issue. I had 17 years in the government but not enough time to retire. I took the DRP and I don’t have any regrets. Of course, it’s not easy trying to obtain another job. I have 27 applications out and only heard back from one. I got accepted as a federal contractor, but was told I can’t do it because it’s a conflict. I can only apply after September 30, 2025. My advice would be if you can afford it and have a plan, go for it. But if not… I would wait it out.
Is it the team that you aren't happy with, or the type of work you are doing?
If the team - Can you provide feedback internally to improve the work environment?
If the type of work - Can you use transferrable skills to apply to internal positions that are/may come available?
I have been with my city job for over 28 years and have been miserable for at least 20 of it. Love my job, but the bosses are beyond toxic I have waited too long. They have pushed me far enough finally where I am ready to take that step. Had an interview at a job that I was 100% qualified for (I was the only applicant with court experience and training would have been been minimal ). And I didn't get it. I feel like I could work another ten years, just not where I am with the current management .
Get out. Run. You don't want to end up in THIS situation
