Love Chicago…. It’s an amazing city ..the people are awesome and you’ll accumulate friends in a short period of time.
The lake is amazing, concerts, nightlife, beach parties etc.
It can get expensive and the traffic can be a bear until you learn the patterns. It’s about location, location.. location.
Just the best city in the world ❤️
Best city in the whole world (I have lived in NYC, Dubai, mid-sized city in Ohio). Great food scene. Low cost of living for such a big city. Walkable. Bikeable. Amazing architecture. Easy to travel for weekend getaway
Best??
For me. Everything is subjective.
Gangs on north side lol. Yes, roving. We don't leave our homes.
I live in Chicago! Born and raised. Happy to chat.
I live in Chicago and love it; fantastic summer city. Unless you’re driving a lot I doubt the traffic will have a large effect on your lifestyle.
Crime in the north side is very rare (but a little more prevalent now admittedly but still very low). And for a major city Chicago is very affordable.

Better than MSP in most ways except that you’re hub captive to lesser airlines.
New York would be better than either, plus you get to stick with DL.
What life stage are you at? If you're young and you want to party, go to great restaurants/bars/clubs, meet people, have stuff to see/do, advance your career, etc. Then Chicago far and away outclasses MSP, without a killer cost of living like NYC. If you're married with kids and you're looking to settle down, Chicago isn't clearly in the lead.
OP, you shouldn't worry about crime rates. On a per-capita basis, Minneapolis has a worse crime rate than Chicago, across both violent and property crime. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate if you were fine in Minneapolis, you should be better off or at least no worse in Chicago.
After reading post, sounds awesome! is anyone hiring? looking for a change. East coaster but would like to venture outside my bubble
