I'm curious about what is the "norm" for yearly pay increases in the Buffalo / WNY area. I was getting 1-2% per year when I worked at non-profits and it's not any better at my for-profit job, I actually worked my tail off to qualify for a 3% raise, which was cut to 2.5% for "budget reasons." Inflation is 3.4%! This is why people are forced to job hunt. I had a job interview and the interviewer said that was pretty typical for this area, which crushed me. Is 2.5% the best I can get?

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before).
