I’m currently 2nd yr associate, 2 yr law clerk w/ billing before. I’m burnt out beyond belief, hate the type of law I’m practicing, and each day I dread waking up to do it. I’m disabled, so the grind of high billable is reallyyyy getting to me since I’ve been doing it so long. I’ve applied to over 100+ new jobs (in-house or staff attorney) with interviews that never panned out. I get recruiters reaching out to me all the time for other law firms, but I’m over billable. Do I seek one with less?

My supervisor has been including me in WFO roster since August, but neither did I go to office nor I cancelled the roster.
I didn't received call from the supervisor or the HR also to come to office.

My YOE is 9.7 Years in SAS/SQL/SAS Macros.

What do you suggest here , will TCS give me as per my expectation or at what salary should I get satisfied.. ?

I have another Offer Letter of 15LPA with 04-APR joining Date but I don't want to join that org and want to be part of TCS (obviously for Brand and WLB).

I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.

Does anybody work in a rule for a litigation finance or legal funding company who doesn't hail from a big law firm in background? Basically I have a lot of interest in the area have read a book about it in my free time and was wondering what sort of entry level opportunities I should be seeking.

I don’t want to make partner, and I want to stay in big law for 2-3 years, do you suggest I just do the bare minimum for hours or should I still be doing as much work as possible?

1st year Assoc in a small comm lit firm with 6 attorneys. Sole proprietor partner who is early/mid 70s. Literally doesn’t have or use a computer(like ever🙄). He has to have EVERYTHING printed from him including his emails which he is CC’d on everything me and my coworker send out. Openly racist (he’s Jewish too) and absolute pos to everyone who works for him. We also use PAPER files for him w/ company drive. They never wfh even during start of Covid. No access to emails. What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? I went through all the stages of interviewing with a firm then they chose not to fill the position. They said internal priorities changed. I saw about 5 months later they posted a similar position. Guess who has another interview!

Oil and gas attorneys what do you do?

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Wants me to figure it all out despite cases being from different areas of law.

Layoffs. Most big firms say they're sitting on a conservative pile of cash - which I believe is true - but work will obviously not return to pre-COVID levels in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Are Biglaw layoffs coming?
