I think communication is a big thing to look for. If they are in constant communication, that is a good sign. I look for someone who follows up when they say they are going to, and keeps their word.
This is a good one
Also if they are giving you specifics on target firms. If their list is reflecting what you are looking for in the next stage of your career than they are really listening to you vs spitting out the sweat shops that are always hiring (unless, of course, you’re ok with that, which is totally fine).
Great perspective
I think C1 hit it with are they “really listening to you.” I’d add is it someone you can talk to and be honest with? Your recruiter should be a strategist and a facilitator. If you don’t mesh well, then you’re unlikely to feel like you can be open, honest, even vulnerable with them. Without that level of communication, you’re probably not going to get the strategy and mentorship which could really benefit you.
Watch out for people who push you too hard, or are too inexperienced to be helpful, can’t justify the firms they suggest to you.
Thanks

Hard to say. When you work with them for a longer period of time, and they stay in touch with you will see who is really qualified and cares and who is not.
