Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

First, congratulations on two potential offers! I would probably keep my cards closer and not mention it. If there is one offer that edges out the other and I’m already leaning towards, I might bring it up with 2nd place. But even then, just be mindful of it backfiring.

I appreciate it
I would not disclose this information! You run the risk of having an offer being rescinded if company A or B feels like you would bail on them because you’re not serious. Alternatively, you can negotiate a bit more aggressively knowing what ONLY you know (meaning that you actually have 2 offers) for the company you decide you want to work for most. Withholding is an art form - use it to your advantage here … and congrats on having the option to choose between two contenders!

Thank you! I’m too much of an open book. I’ll keep your advice in mind.
I would keep the other offer to myself, but I would probably negotiate a little bit more aggressively with the knowledge that I have. You don't want them to rescind the offer because they don't think you're a serious candidate. But you can use whatever the higher offer is as leverage against the other one.

The balance is hard to gauge! But I hope it works out. Thanks
I wouldn’t try to do that now. When market favors the job seekers, yeah, certainly possible tactic. In today’s market, it’s just another way to cross off folks who would be deemed fickle and will run after $ not commitment.

I will keep this in mind. Thanks
You should remain professional and weight the pros and cons of both positions. Then go to the interviews and see which one is favoring you more and your more interested in working for. That way if one position isn't offered; your opportunity is still available at the other one. But approach both like it's your dream job.

Thanks for the perspective.

Congratulations on the two job offers Negotiate but no don’t share anything about the other job offer esp in today’s job market just use this to your advantage when negotiating your pay

I always thought it was a good idea to have jobs compete but seems like that’s a bad idea! Thanks for the advice.
Share and strengthen your negotiation position! Higher salary, higher bonus, more time off etc.

You’re right. I do need to strengthen my negotiating skills for sure. Thanks!
