I’m in the final rounds of interviewing for a in-house role I really want, which I used AI to optimize my resume for. Even though I reviewed the changes it made, I missed the fact that it added a “Senior” to a counsel role I had two jobs ago (not my latest role). If I get the job and they check with prior employers, how likely is this to come up?

If they do a background check it could get marked as an inconsistency. It's hard to say, but it does look bad you didn't catch it.

Don’t mention it was from AI. That would disqualify you in my book. Not for using AI, but for not triple checking the output.

Was the experience you had at that role of particular interest to them (e.g., did they ask many questions about it, or it factored a lot in why they like you)? If so, make a correction and say it was a typo. If not, I'd say ignore it.

Leave it alone. My title in most of our systems does not include the senior, but my title in my offer letter and my signature block does.

If anyone checked, it would seem inconsistent but titles in official systems do not always capture every nuance negotiated in your offer letter because titles are often tied to comp codes and other prebuilt benefits so new ones aren’t always created when someone starts a position with a better title than the person they backfilled.

Not ideal, but you can work around this. I would provide the company with an updated resume and point out that you mistakenly listed Senior Counsel instead of Counsel. Don’t make a big deal of it or be apologetic - frame it as a simple mistake.

Or…you could roll the dice and leave it. It was two jobs ago and the company may not check. However, if they do and you haven’t disclosed the error beforehand it will reflect poorly on you.

How long ago was the counsel position? Some places only pay their background check company to go back 7-10 years.

like

For some background checks, you have to enter in or review your info based on what was populated from your resume. If so, you can use that opportunity to correct your title for the background screen. I recently switched jobs and the background check I did had that option.

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

Got a temp offer for less than a year without promise of turning into full-time. Wanted to know what ppl think about temp jobs (looks bad on resume if I don't turn full-time later within the company?) and what comp should look like (e.g. 1.2× of regular comp?).

Got another perm offer in a different industry for similar salary, but I might have to relocate and I'm concerned the work may involve translation instead of pure legal work.

Very specific to retail and/or hospitality in-house roles: has anyone found a good solution for predictive scheduling?
