I’m negotiating a move from government consulting to a private firm offering $130K base + 15% bonus. The total comp is better than I’ve ever had, but I’m still below what peers with my experience (10 years) are making. I want to counter at $140K base, but I’m unsure how to frame it without sounding greedy. What’s the best way to present market data and scope alignment without burning goodwill?

I wouldn’t put a number on it, as it might rub them the wrong way. I would just say “is there any flexibility to bump the base salary up a bit? I’m still very excited about the role and understand if not possible, but was hoping for a bit higher given my experience and what I’ve learned about the roles and responsibilities through the interview process”
I usually say something along those lines and never had an issue. I will say, a lot of companies right now only bump up by like $5k - $10k

Hello all!
I'm 26, I studied economics but I don't know why I'm not much into investing/trading. Someone else like this?
I recognize this is not a very good approach for someone with money "knowledge" and I would like to change this mindset. My main weakness is that I easily get bored of following the market and that I do not see big opportunities. Any advice?
Where to start learning, general advice for LT and ST investments, things you learnt, books that changed your pov on the topic etc.

Thx!

3 YOE in Marketing through internships in college, followed by 2 years Financial Operations/Data Tools full-time. I got an offer for $75K at TekSystems for a Market Analyst role. I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.

Just to note, this is about a 25% increase compared to what I am currently making.
