I’m new and not understanding the PTO thing.. so if you don’t have enough PTO can you just opt not to get paid?

We work from home I’m always on PTO

I would do that but I planned a trip out of the country before I got this job 😭

Umm, no.

Policy has been changed from this year if you dnt have PTo then you need to take LOA

Are you DI or USI?
You can always take up to 10 days of advance PTO in USI

US firm no longer allows you to go negative in PTO

like

It’s more like a leave of absence. So if you want to take let’s say 5 days off but only have 2 days worth of PTO, you’ll have to fill out a leave of absence form and it’ll have to be approved

You have to take LOA in 5 days increments

When your manager decides to take PTO right before the holidays / project deadlines and leaves you to do their work (which they didn’t do) as well as your own.

My boss fired me because i ask for clarification on my employment right.

I got hired not long ago. I realise some of the employee benefits i was told (missing in the contract) contradict with what’s stated on the law. So i email the boss about it and ask for clarification. Immediately after the email i was fired.

Just want to make sure people know this and don’t apply jobs in this shady company- it is called UniQ Biotech, in Delta, BC, Canada
