I'm new to this group. What ratings do you all have? I have my CFI/CFII, CMEL, and CSES. I'm also over 1400TT.

There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?

Our company of 110 EEs has separate providers for payroll and HRIS, not happy with either products. I’m gathering data to make a pitch to move everything into an all-in-one HRIS + payroll.

Does it make any difference to make the change effective the first week of 2023 payroll, or to make a change in payroll providers mid year? I’m thinking it’s best to start fresh at the beginning of the year and not worry about two payroll companies for reporting. What are other things to consider?

How much is the max salary band for Specialist designation?

Anyone else a bit annoyed with the announcers right now? I get you disagree with the decision to not start the race, but man there was so much rain out there I can’t blame race control. I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Anyone here suffer from depression? How do you cope with it? I recently went through a break up, and a few other personal/family issues. Hard to see what gods plan for my life is. Hello if anyone’s there 👋 I’m wondering what some of you have done after getting your PPL? I assume continue to learn/gain ratings, but how often do you fly once you’ve reached that milestone, do you look to get you own aircraft (or share), volunteer etc? Looking to eventually take the plunge, but want to know what things look like beyond PPL.

How to find time to fly? I have gotten so busy, just picked up two more projects and realized it’s been 50 days. On the schedule for tomorrow, but geez 😒

Looking to choose a place to fly out of for getting my PPL. Would you recommend a program based out of a controlled or uncontrolled airport? It sounds like you get more flight time out of the uncontrolled (less busy), but less experience liaising with ATC. Both options are comparable cost-wise and about the same distance from my house.

Anyone have good fall foliage GA airports in New Hampshire, MA, or Southern Maine?

Took the plunge and took a 2 month break from work to finally get my PPL. No clue how I would’ve done this without the break. Passed medical, written, and already have 6 hours! I’m doing an accelerated program with a small school in California to knock this out in a few weeks. So far so good!

Just had my discovery flight and I’ve been wanting to go for my PPL for a while, just not sure I can justify the 15k or so investment in my current financial situation. Would it be really bad to spread my lesson over a period of a few years?
