Any advice for a first year attorney in litigation considering switching to this area?

For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help. I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? What does it mean if there’s a NEP at the firm who’s been there for a long time (20+ years), but never got promoted to EP? Never held leadership roles too. Does it usually mean EPs does not like the NEP enough to get promoted?

I assume continue to learn/gain ratings, but how often do you fly once you’ve reached that milestone, do you look to get you own aircraft (or share), volunteer etc? Looking to choose a place to fly out of for getting my PPL. Would you recommend a program based out of a controlled or uncontrolled airport? It sounds like you get more flight time out of the uncontrolled (less busy), but less experience liaising with ATC. Both options are comparable cost-wise and about the same distance from my house.

Took the plunge and took a 2 month break from work to finally get my PPL. No clue how I would’ve done this without the break. Passed medical, written, and already have 6 hours! I’m doing an accelerated program with a small school in California to knock this out in a few weeks. So far so good!
