I’m putting together a 2025 DEI project planner to be proactive in planning our observances and holiday event programming. What are some major national observance days you recommend including aside from the usual major holidays?

Religion observations, heritage months that don't get a lot of billing, and find the connection to the work your organization does

We are trying to do the same and find it quite hard to understand what dates are more impactful / important than others, if there is a rank of such, as almost everyday is a day of some sort and will be quite hard to engage people..
e.g. All Saints Day will be a day marked up on the Christian calendar, but I don’t think a lot of people actually observe it anymore..

Planning observances and holiday events are not DEI initiatives. They’re the bare minimum for corporations.

They are initiatives but not a strategy.

Native American heritage day

There are some fantastic diversity calendars, heritage months, and awareness campaign sites out there. One that I find helpful is https://www.diversityresources.com/awareness-months/. Just make sure that any holidays or observations you select align with the company's mission, vision, and values to ensure their success. Otherwise, your efforts may not be as impactful.
