I think the DEI department is making a difference, but I think it's not enough to offset the company culture. At the company I consult for they're still stuck in the "good ole days" and it's a pain in the ass.

Nope! I spend most of my time arguing with the people that hired me because I'm actively doing what they hired me to do instead of sitting back and doing paperwork like they hoped I would. I was a hire for show.

I'm in talks to be task lead/on-site project manager for a small contractor - non-technical/highly specialized subject matter, 5-10 direct reports. Requires 10 YOE, relevant master's, Top Secret. Any thoughts on salary I should be asking? I'd have to get $220k minimum to make it worth my while to jump, but skeptical they'll be able to offer that.

Hi, we just launched Diversity and inclusion committee at our work place and one of our many initiatives is to share some reminders /notifications about safety and inclusion in common employee platforms/portals e.g There’s no place or time when discrimination is acceptable. Please feel free to report to HR if you com across any discriminatory behavior. Anyone has any more similar ideas what other topics we can add?


How do you professionally address a noticeable lack of diversity on your team? More than 85% of my team is white or white passing, and of the remaining individuals none are Black, Indigenous, or AAPI.


General question: Is there any room in corporate America for real, actionable DE&I discussions and initiatives? I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?


I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?
