Unless you're salaried non-exempt, they don't consider that "overtime." They consider that what they're paying you a salary to do.
🤣 go for it... watch how fast that turns into a no, and they start calculating how long it will take to replace you..
I sympathize with the situation, but a few extra hours are nothing. If you are consistently working 10-20 extra hours, I would consider moving somewhere else for more. Trying to make the case as a salaried employee is tough. A huge reason why most want to stay hourly.
A few hours are nothing lol. They all add up & drain someone either way
You’re thinking about this the right way. If the overtime is no longer just a busy season but an ongoing part of the job, it’s fair to explore whether your salary should adjust to reflect that.
You're paid based upon the value that you add and the cost they would bear to replace you.
Working 2-4 hours of overtime shouldn't factor into that (although, if they need to pay more to get a replacement because of this fact, then it is relevant).
Evaluate alternatives (i.e. what you would get elsewhere) and frame your ask accordingly.

I would try to work it into your mid year review convo and not make it explicitly about the hours but the skills and output that you have, since being salaried can sometimes mean working overtime in my experience. But highly variable on your company
Why do people seem to not understand the difference between a salary and hourly wage? If you were on an hourly wage then you would have an issue and any overtime you do obviously needs to be paid.
If you are on a salary you are paid to do a JOB, the time you take is irrelevant to your pay. If you are slow and working a lot of overtime to get the job done, then you need to work faster or just leave the work until the next day. If it’s a workload issue that’s a different matter and should be raised with your manager.
People at all levels take business way too seriously. It’s not like they’re doing anything drastic to actually improve the situation for the entire human race, they’re either making or shipping plastic widgets or designing silly PowerPoint presentations with a bunch of AI buzzwords or tending to people’s teeth or trying to scam people into buying their product. Get over it everyone, if you think there’s any urgency into your work you are wrong.
