I’m seeking a career pivot and recently interviewed for a public defender job. After research, it appears that they may have a set new hire salary but the posting says “salary depends on experience.” If offered the position, how should I negotiate for more, considering this is a county funded position? Has anyone had any success?

Are y’all finding your white male bosses to be incompetent as hell or is just me? And they will milk you for all your brilliance and try to squeeze every ounce of labor out of you.

Has anyone found success developing business or building their book? Specifically businesses (not individuals)? Looking for new ideas to get clients in the door.

I'm working in the US under H1B, I got a chance to face an interview for another company. My current company started the PERM application also and results will be out within the next 3 months. I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?
