Don’t wait around for someone to ask you to do a piece of work or to help them. Be present — catch up frequently with colleagues, ask them what they’re working on, where can you provide assistance, how you can get involved. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
I suggest just being yourself. Keep your head down and get the job done. And always go above and beyond what is expected of you.
I actually would not recommend always going above and beyond what's expected of you. Do your job, and do it as well as you can, but set boundaries and prevent yourself from getting burnt out by not taking on too much to try and prove yourself. I would try and make at least acquaintances with your coworkers or team since it can make work a bit more congenial and makes networking easier. Don't be afraid to ask questions about how to do things more efficiently, or things that may seem simple but you don't understand. Better to ask then to make a mistake that could have been prevented by you asking.
