There is nothing wrong with sounding demanding. Have examples of your accomplishments, along with your market value, to backup your request. They might still deny the raise of course and in that case, your only option is to settle for what you are currently making or start job hunting.
I think it’s okay to be a little demanding, if they value you at the company they’ll do what they can to keep you.

Agree! Demanding is good at times
I am in the exact same boat! I hit all my goals and then some. I’m even graduating with my degree in December. They don’t just give raises outside promotions and merits. There are layoffs happening now so I know I’m totally out of luck! When I get my review conversation I’m still going to propose a higher base salary so I know I tried!

I don't know that demanding is the righr tact, but definitely ask with confidence and co e to the table prepared with examples and metrics thst show your worth.
It's only a negotiation if you have leverage, and in this scenario you don't have any leverage unless you are willing to walk away. Being demanding doesn't create leverage, it paints you i to a corne6thst you may not want to be in.
