I’m up for my annual review soon and really want to ask for a raise, but I’ve never actually negotiated before. I hit every goal this year, but I’m worried they’ll just say “there’s no budget.” What’s the best way to make a solid case without sounding demanding?

There is nothing wrong with sounding demanding. Have examples of your accomplishments, along with your market value, to backup your request. They might still deny the raise of course and in that case, your only option is to settle for what you are currently making or start job hunting.

I think it’s okay to be a little demanding, if they value you at the company they’ll do what they can to keep you.

Agree! Demanding is good at times

I am in the exact same boat! I hit all my goals and then some. I’m even graduating with my degree in December. They don’t just give raises outside promotions and merits. There are layoffs happening now so I know I’m totally out of luck! When I get my review conversation I’m still going to propose a higher base salary so I know I tried!

I don't know that demanding is the righr tact, but definitely ask with confidence and co e to the table prepared with examples and metrics thst show your worth.

It's only a negotiation if you have leverage, and in this scenario you don't have any leverage unless you are willing to walk away. Being demanding doesn't create leverage, it paints you i to a corne6thst you may not want to be in.

How can I be less impulsive OR how can I stay motivated past the 10 day mark?? TIA

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?
