138k as an ACD in San Francisco - too low?
Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. You pursued a respectable and niche profession; how were you supposed to know how difficult it would be to land a job. I remember getting advice when I was young to learn a specialized skill because that will put you ahead.
I understand what you mean! I was a psychology major😂 . Our system doesn’t do a very good job of teaching us what majors help you with which jobs and the difficulties that it might bring. I am a man of faith and I always encourage people to look into that. I am a messianic Jew and I believe that our relationship with Christ is just like a friendship. You really need to keep in touch or when you need someone they may not be there. We are fortunate we have such a loving God.
I wish I chose a major other than marketing
Listen, completing your degree is something many people never do. In order to start your career in that field you may have to take a lower level position then work your way up. A degree does not guarantee a managers job. Consider doing volunteer work on that field. That will help your resume and expand your network.

It is not just that you went to college it is that the job market has been bad for the past few years, the global economy is bad, and the political climate is also bad.
There are thousands of people out of work and many more soon to be laid off.
The fact that people are getting hired over you might not necessarily be true as there have been less qualified people that have gotten jobs over highly qualified for the reason that they interviewed or sold themselves better.
It has been a myth for years that you "go to school, get good grades, go to college, and you will be set for life" as you have not been and never will be entitled to a job just because you have a VERY expensive piece of paper.
With the way the job market and economy are, I would suggest that you make sure your resume can pass through the AI / ATS which companies use to filter out applications with keywords and key phrases plus find a role that you have transferable skills / experience for especially since companies are looking at employees as transactions and what we can do for them NOW.
I know many people who had / have the thinking of "I am glad you have a college degree although if you expect to use it go somewhere else as you are not going to ruin my business with your theories and only book knowledge".
