I’m working from home for one week post surgery. Is there a way if my surgeon writes a note specifying why I need a second week wfh before coming back that “workplace excellence” will be okay and not flag me? I’ve been compliant all other weeks 3 days but last week I worked only 2 days but came in both days to office. Should I call HR or get a note first?

Are there life science firms that allow fully remote work? Is there any disadvantage of being remote?

Have people been doing more or less work with personal projects since working from home? I feel like it’s been harder to keep motived to work on my side projects since starting a permanently remote position.

Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. I was going to be preparing myself for an interview for a T2 firm. I have about 7 months to prepare for the interview but am overwhelmed by a lot of conflicting advice on how to prepare. I am generally not the best interviewer but am confident of being a good fit for consulting.

I had two recruiters today reschedule a meeting. And this is the second time rescheduling. Honesty, not sure what value recruiters bring. Is this common now? I am a mechanical engineer and people think that because I am a "mechanical" engineer like I fix cars. It is part of the career, but it is not the same thing. It happens to others that people confuse your profession, or it's only to me?

I run 3x per week and started having left knee pain. Got an X-ray and it turns out I have mild arthritis in both knees. Has anyone else been diagnosed? What are your remedies? I got an inflammatory and hope it provides some relief!
