My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

Bofa? Or is everyone else calling this nonsense WE too? 😂 if bac, you'll need to rqst temporary medical accomodation. Surgeon can prescribe whatever amt of recovery time you need. Mgr approves. You may or may not show as non-compliant in dashboard but Mgr can excuse it/supply evidence. Shouldn't be a huge deal unless your boss is a jerk.
It was a huge deal lol my boss has become a jerk..
I just went through the same situation. My employer allows my manager to approve up to 30 days WFH with a doctor's note. I asked the surgeon to specify that I had mobility issues in the note, signed and dated, clearly stating that I had to be home from surgery date till 30 days after.
My suggestion is - get a note first, talk to your manager and ask what the process is. It's likely that they will tell you to submit the note to them + HR.
I got three weeks. But they acted like it was the end of the world it’s been a headache. Had to get HR involved and he said he was upset bc I didnt “plan ahead” for over 1 week wfh. I’ve done 10 hours OT all three weeks…
Might help to know what country you are working from to better understand the local rules.
But is a job, where you can do the work from home, but you are stressing about wfh post surgery really the right environment?
Sorry should’ve been more detailed. I’m in US. I can do the work from home. We get 2 days fo work from home and 3 days “required” in office. I work more and better at home. I’m stressed bc I can’t push or pull much over 5 lbs and driving strains a little bit and if I manage to go too hard I. Could have some very painful and expensive complications. It’s not insurance covered.
Ugh, if you have an employer that’s going to be so strict right after you have surgery that’s…not great. I would assume most employers would be reasonable (but I know that’s not always the case). Have you tried just asking your manager for an extra week? If not, my guess is your doctor wouldn’t mind writing a note.
You can probably get better insight posting this in your company's bowl, as they'll have a better idea of policy and flexibility.
