What should my requested salary be for a Senior Intelligence Analyst position with CrowdStrike ? I have a bachelors degree and 5 years of experience as an intelligence analyst. Current salary is 56k in NC, but when I was in DC I was making 86k (big locality change)… which makes me confused on what I should expect for a remote job.

I'm here for a paycheck, not for purpose. As long as I'm doing my job well enough to continue receiving one, that's good enough for me. Might not be enough for DOGE though...
"Well enough" doesn't cut it on our team. I look for reasons to get rid of engineers on our projects with that type of attitude and it's usually not too hard to find. They're the first ones showing up Monday morning jabbering "is it Friday yet?" Listen, if you don't want to be there then, go ahead and do everyone around you a favor by voluntarily leaving instead of making it a miserable environment by forcing them to tolerate your sour presence. I despise that type of attitude as a lead engineer!
I like what I do to have purpose. I'm not just chasing a paycheck. I want to have meaning and impact while I'm working.
Thanks for sharing this! I hope you continue to feel this way for the duration of your career 🙏
The general public, lawmakers, this administration, politicians, and my employer have proven time and time again that they do not care about how civil servants are mistreated. I’m here to get my paycheck and move on. I used to think there was a purpose but those days are now gone.
Thanks for sharing 🙏 the longer I stay in the public sector the more I feel the same way.
I do think it’s enough and don’t think deeper purpose is an excuse to do the job for sub-par pay, benefits, policies, and culture. I have passion to serve the public, but it’s hard to fulfill that when I’m running on empty and the government would rather spend more money on football stadiums and mediocre housing developers than give us the fuel we need to be the essential parts of the government that we are.
Now that's a legit argument..
I worked in Government for 25 years. The days of cushy government jobs have been over for quite a while. Outsiders do not know this because they are operating on old information, just like VHS tapes. In many cases, it's a pressure cooker. Anyone who believes otherwise needs to experience watching a manager walked out of a building after 32 years of service, all because he lost out to someone else in a bid for the top position, kind of like a banana republic where the loser of an election gets put in front of a firing squad.
I can see why you'd feel that way. Thanks for sharing.
Of course there's a sense of purpose. Not sure if it qualifies as deeper purpose, I don't want to get too carried away. But if I didn't feel like I was doing something that mattered I'd go off to the private sector and chase more money. Of course, that may happen regardless, now that half the country thinks I'm either a useless chair warmer or the devil incarnate.
The police that your government used to harassed bully and extorte the public are the devil incarnet u sold your soul for a shitty ass wage and ok benefits so u can perpetuate the garbage they pettle
If one does their job well or better then they should be meeting the mission. Its up to you if you are in agreement with the mission.
Doing your job well enough anywhere should always be the goal, regardless if it's the private or public sector. Finding a purpose and means behind the work makes things easier and more satisfying, though it's not always possible. Still doing my best each day gives great satisfaction and accomplishment. There are always ways to perfect the output.
Is better to do ur job well as far as ur good with ur job
Depending on the role, there is a sense of purpose when you sit back and think about it. However, the day to day work feels like any other job and I’m here for a paycheck. A sense of purpose and having an impact is a benefit, but not the reason for why I chose the role.
That's a great reflection 🙏
I started with a strong sense of purpose and am experiencing extreme burnout. So I’m recalibrating to have more of a balanced “this is just a job, if it has a good impact then great!” Type of attitude.
