In industry now. Assuming I don't love or hate my job and am content with where I am except for my role/title (want a promotion), how successful would it be to get a competing offer to negotiate with the current company? Good? Bad? Any experience you can share?

It would leave a bad taste for your current company regardless of the outcome. If you care about your current company, you should tell them you are looking to advance your career and see what they can do. If they don’t do anything, then you should start testing the waters.

No idea. They may match offer and give you a promotion or they may tell you to pack your bags. There is not a standard response that applies to everyone

Hey Everyone,

I will be joining EY GDS in August 2021. There's a pay component "Advanced Statutory Bonus" of around 26k per annum. Any idea what this is? Is it truly fixed or will depend on firm's performance?

Thanks!

Hi. I am desperate to change jobs. I have two offer in hands: Deloitte Hyderbad on a contract basis with 15% hike and KPMG Bangalore FTE with 25% hike. I like Deloitte as a brand better.
None of of these two companies are willing to offer more saying that they have a tight budget.

Which one should I take? Please help me decide.

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!
