I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?

Although buzzword bingo usually isn't much fun it's fair and accurate to say that IT decisions and actions provide the tools for other departments to complete their tasks and/or do it more efficiently from sales to operations to service - all those depts are directly involved in business outcomes therefore by extension so is IT.
Put another, shorter way - the poor IT depts focus on IT for the sake of IT. The best IT depts focus on other depts.
For future reference, I suggest that you look at the system(s) that you support and compare them to an organizational diagram of your enterprise systems, who uses them or what other systems/data do they support. Consider answers like uptime of systems or number of on-time deliverables (if just a few projects, list percentages) for technical responses. If they want more objective or business type contributions, consider answers like “implemented xyz changes which led to a reduction of charged hours for our department…” or “discovered a bug which saved the company $100k by not having to go to an external vendor…” When asked questions like this, it is mostly to assess your view of the big picture of the company.
