I prepared an analysis of my jobs (acting as manager) comparing actual realization to budgeted and was told I shldnt be looking at that. Shouldnt performance to budget be a metric mngrs are eval’d on?

at pwc, that’s literally all anyone focuses on. actual vs budgeted realization. because the firm recognizes revenue as time is charged and based on budgeted realization scale. so variances against that are the gains and losses when billing cycles close.

There are a few other factors that come into play: staffing, client load, etc. if you aren’t a manager yet then I would expect your realization to be lower than a seasoned manager. Roll with the punches and try to do the best you can.

I reside in Columbus, Ohio. I have three years of public accounting experience in India from 2012 - 2015 and was unable to work due to visa restrictions. As a refresher to my career I invested in pursuing CPA. I passed FAR and Audit sections. Should I apply for associate or experienced associate roles in USA public accounting firms?
