Is a procurement position a dead end job?

In the right agency (wink wink), no. It's a great legal adjacent job and gets you direct exposure to a) contractors, some big name and b) other in house depts. I've seen some people long term in procurement and others use it as a spring board. Remember that there is a vendor side to govt contracting, and a lot of those ppl started with inside knowledge of the govt.

Which one is better for a long-term plan (~2 years) of going to private with a mid/upper management position that is not compliance oriented? As for me, I was heavy on compliance until recent and wanted to focus on getting planning experience and management skills forward. I am a CPA and an attorney, but not a JD.

What’s the best way to include a new role on your resume that does not begin until next summer? I’m asking this because IB recruitment is in the spring, and I thought it would be meaningful to include it. I am mainly curious about the bullet points. Would it be valid to not have any or to just have one that says something like “Accepted offer on Nov”?

I’m contracting with a company in an admin role, but sometimes I’m asked to do projects that would normally be outsourced to a marketing or design company like designing a flyer for example. It’s not in my job description, but I have the skills to do this work and so why not ask me to do it? Is it out of the question to ask if I can be paid for that work under a separate fee as a consultant or something? Is that even possible?

Recently joined -been 5 months - I realized Iam not treated equally as other associates of my level/band in this organization..On the first day of my introduction with my boss I was told that my level=other managers position .. just dont wory about Job title•But I have realized without the manager /director in your job title- nobody takes you seriously or respects you the way other leaders are•I think it should have been my boss introducing me to the team as manager/director - how to raise this

Is it unethical as realtors working in an office to block chunks of time off for personal reasons? Some of my coworkers stay in their desks for up to 10 hours, but I've taken up the habit of blocking at least 1 hour daily for lunch, breaks, and other issues that may arise. Do you do this as well or do you prefer to work straight through your day?

Recruiter reached out a few weeks ago about an ER role. I don’t have the finance background but want to pivot. I had a first round interview that I thought I bombed but I got a second. Did a stock pitch that was fairly good, didn’t know all the technical questions tho. I followed up day of, and recruiter asked to have a quick chat next day. She asks me about salary & availability to start and says she’ll try and get an update from the team. I haven’t heard & im wondering if I got rejected

I graduated in 2016, did a state court clerkship, and then was hired as a hearing officer. I’m looking to apply for an attorney advisor position but wonder if my lack of ‘traditional’ legal work will harm my chances. Thoughts?

I was recently approached by a recruiter about a position as a litigation attorney at the DOJ. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any more specific information other than what I would be doing is “generally commercial litigation.” Can anyone share insights on what this may entail? Is it normal for a recruiter to be placing people for these government repositions?

Does anyone feel like they’re selling themselves short by working in government? I graduated from a regional law school in 2018 and clerked for 2 years before moving into a GS-13 agency counsel role in DC back in October 2020. I love the work, and I love the work-life balance even more (I rarely work more than 45 hours per week, and almost never on the weekends). I’m 29, no kids, and no real responsibilities outside my student loans. (Continued below)…

Curious to hear more details though, both for specific DOJ components and other agencies!
