In the clinic where I work, we have a high traffic of patients. We are specialists in the treatment of terminal illnesses for dogs and I really already feel that I am very good at diagnosing animals after their exams. I am a veterinary assistant. They have told me that they will improve my contract, but it was already 6 months ago.
They tell me that they have not had time to look into that. I think they should be more considered with the staff because without our fast & successful work this clinic would not be a success. Has anyone been in the same position?

Unpopular opinion: as a vet, I can assure animals can be as mean as human beings, they just can't speak up for you to know. And they also have the power to dislike you.

My area has a shortage of vet techs, yet all three clinics I’ve interviewed with are only offering minimum wage. I’d rather not commute to the next city if I don’t need to. Should I try to sell the ROI of hiring me at a liveable wage?

How do you address pay discrepancies? I just found out a VT hired a year after me, with less experience, is making $2 more an hour. She was hired when they were desperate for staff which I’m guessing is why, but I’ve felt bitter ever since finding out.

I get that money is tight. But if you deny all diagnostic tests, please don’t get mad at me when we can’t figure out what’s wrong. Those tests are there for a reason.
