Guys quartz watches are not all that bad. They don’t need to be wound and set, keep good time and -in general- are more robust than mechanical ones. Mechanical watches are very cool things to own and geek o it over (I’ve got a dozen) but a few quartz watches round out the collection. OP you should get the Tank.
Cartier quartz from what I understand is high quality, and they actually take the time to finish it nicely. I used to be anti-quartz Tank but after owning a Tank, I would say it's worth the price. Mine is not quartz so I have the luxury of saying that, but I've since bought a quartz Tank Must and gifted it, and it's a great watch. I was tempted to get a solar one for myself. It is a luxury piece of jewelry and that's exactly what it's packaged like and feels like. There's no other watch exactly like it, though Reverso comes close. But it's more important in a tank style watch to get a size that fits you, than to get a larger size just for a mechanical movement. If you like it, I think it's worth it.
The bracelet, for sure. Not that the strap isn't nice, and they are quick release so it's easy to swap. But the bracelet is comfortable, high quality, versatile, and you don't have to worry as much about light splashes with water. It's also cheaper to get a strap later, versus buying with the strap and then getting a bracelet later, should you ever decide you want both options.

Are there quartz watches that offer similar value without the name cachet? Probably. At the same time, the tank is an iconic watch with a timeless design and you can’t go wrong. Plus being quartz doesn’t make it a bad value - the quartz movement inside the tank is actually a high accuracy quartz and done well. I say if you like it, it’s a great choice

I am seriously considering getting a Tank quartz for my wife, as a dress watch .. I know she won’t like the manual winds sometimes and a Cartier is classic and classy
My wife has a tank quartz. It’s perfect for her needs.

Depends what you value, I suppose.

definitely not, adding $1k more to get one with automatic movement.

Oh, if you want a brand name jewelry, then quartz is fine, check the new solar power model. If you want a watch, not jewelry, check longines for small wrist, or double your budget to get a Rolex op 28/31.

Would probably explore other watches in that price range but just comes down to if you want a Tank or not
Just spend 1.1k more for automatic

Read above — I have really small wrist
Not to hijack this thread but since there is good traction here, does anyone know if Tanks have historically been quartz movements? I noticed a lot of the vintage pieces are quartz as well. Debating one myself but think it’s a high price to pay for a quartz.

I mean the first Cartier Tank was introduced in 1917 and the first quartz watch in 1969 so it depends on your definition of historical :)
