I’ve always done it face to face but would likely depend on office norms, whether you care about the relationship long term, etc.
Rising Star
E-mail is fine for notifying HR. At least hand over a written resignation face-to-face for anyone with whom you want to maintain a relationship. If you’re running because you’re getting out of a toxic environment, I assume you don’t want to keep most of the relationships, and email is fine.
Pro
Yes. The moment you tell HR or your boss, be ready to be frogmarched out. So get all your ducks (templates) in a row first
I usually talk to the employer face to face to let them know and then they ask for an email to send to HR
Face to face is the only acceptable way, phone call if in another location
Face to face don’t be a coward
Just make a phone call and have a conversation first. Then send that thing as just paperwork that needed to be filled out. You’re a lawyer. Act like one.
