I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

Yep! It’s a thing and it sucks. Report them each time.
Yeah they’re actually not allowed to do this
I usually ignore the question and just reiterate the pickup location then hang up. Some cancel, but most show up. Some will grumble and I’m quite certain some have low rated me as a result
I switched to Lyft for this reason. I also now never answer Uber’s calls - they can text me if they want, but they won’t because they don’t want a record of the transaction. I once had a guy call me 8 times in a row - he was sitting in the cell phone lot the entire time, so I texted him to ask what he needed (was friendly). He said he couldn’t text while driving. I called him out on it and he continued to call me while I got in a yellow cab and he refused to cancel - he waited nearly 25 minutes, never left the cell phone lot!
NY tri-state airports are notorious.
Two issues:
Once driver crosses state border cannot pickup a ride.
Off peak destinations will result in no return rides
5 in a row!?!? That's impressive. Really uber is to blame with their new algorithms. They really eff over drivers
Yep just don’t tell them
Report it! It's so frustrating when they do that
It's so funny how similar Uber has become to traditional taxi service... This is the #1 reason why I switched to Uber when I lived in SF. I hated getting a cab dispatched, only for them to ask my destination and then bail. I just ignore the question and then tell them where I am located. Feign confusion until they arrive and you're in the car. Use the safety features of the Uber app.
Lyft
No, not til you’re in the car and they start the trip
Happened to me at JFK on Friday! I was so steamed.
It's like a NYC thing I think. Never experience that anywhere else
Lyft also has delta points! :)
Wait. Can’t they see the destination in the app once they accept the ride? Why call to ask?
This happened to me a lot 3 years ago then I switched to Lyft. Hasn’t happened since
Definitely not supposed to do this. Cabs have always been notorious for this eg not willing to go to predominantly black neighborhoods.
My colleague was just telling me this happened to him
Why didn’t you just stop answering after the 2nd or 3rd time
This happen to me before at the Houston airport (only by 1 driver though) I didn't know the exact neighborhood outside of the address i put into the app and he kept wanting to know how close to downtown i was going, he said be there in 5 and then cancelled after I had already been waiting 10 mins. I think they want to see the direction you're going is towards where they want to go and if not cancel. They get so many cancels a day wothout consequence so it may be worth it to them.
